The Conference Venue
The conference will be held on September 6-10, 2010 at the Ning-Wo-Zhuang Hotel located the downtown of Lanzhou city.
All the participants are expected to live in the Ning-Wo-Zhuang Hotel, other hotels are also available around IMP, such as Lanzhou Hotel, Lanzhou Legend Hotel..
No pre-payment for the hotel reservation is requested. The hotel payment can be made by credit card (VISA or MASTER CARD) or cash before leaving. The hotel information is available on the conference web site.
Region
Lanzhou is the capital of Gansu province. The medium-sized city is located along the famous Silk Road with a history of more than thousand years. Lanzhou has a total area of about 14,000 square kilometers and a population of 2.6million. There are more than 30 ethnic groups in Lanzhou.
Lanzhou stretches along the Yellow River as it snakes its way through the valley. The city is located on the loess plateau with an average elevation of 1520 meters. Its weather is comparatively good. Winters are not severe, nor is it extremely hot in summer. When most cities of China suffer from the intense heat of summer, the average temperature here is only 22.6°C(73F) in the hottest month.
Travel
There are a number of flights from BEIJING/SHANGHAI/GUANGZHOU/CHENGDU to LANZHOU everyday. Participants are kindly requested to inform the local committee your flight number, date and landing time, our colleagues will pick you up in Lanzhou Zhongchuan airport and drive you to the hotel. The airport is about 70 km to the hotel.
There is an hourly bus service to Lanzhou Zhongchuan airport, which takes about 1 hour to go at a price of roughly 30.00¥. There is also TAXI service at the airport. The taxi price from the airport to the hotel is about 200.00¥. The hotel is
about 1.5 km distance from the railway station. Railway station and city center are within walking distance from the hotel.
Weather
The weather at the beginning of September should be still pleasantly warm, but you should be prepared for cold and rainy days.
